Howdy chaps!
Just an idea (a bit of a brainstorm), but how would we feel about planning some sort gathering? I can see that there has been some meetups in the past previously and given that as a clan we’re spread out across Europe and even down to South Africa / US, then finding something for everyone is going to be a bit tricky. Of course, just an idea at the moment!
One suggestion we could do (depending on how close people are) could be to go to Duxford War Museum here in the UK in Cambridgeshire. Here’s a link: https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford
I haven’t been for at-least 10 years and it was massive when I last went. There’s lots of to experience from aircraft (being able to walk into aircrafts), land warfare (tanks), battle of Britain, history of duxford (it was used in the world war) just a flavor (take a look at what you think!).
Here’s a few pictures;
The place is massive and also family friendly. Stansted Airport is very close (literally 30 minutes travel)

Sounds like a great idea. But right now when you have the corona virus spread all over the world, its not gonna happen. People are panicking and shutting down whole countries etc.
So we might have to wait it out 😀

Was at Omaha beach three times now, can only recommend it. Super interesting and lets you get deep reverence for the stuff that happened there.

Nah, didn´t do that. I was there with my girldfriend and my doggo, which is really anxious when it comes to groups of people.
Nevertheless we stayed at a camping spot from where you go like 1 minute to get on Omaha Beach, which was really cool and explored the area every day or drove with the car through the nearby area. Saw some really cool stuff like old bunkers, tanks that are placed inside those little towns around the beach, the only preserved german gun-battery (Longes-sur-Mer) etc. ( The story behind the battery was quite funny because it shot 170 shells without hitting any allied ship and when the allies arrived they gave up without a fight). The third time we went there it was the 75 year commemoration of the assault and a lot of veterans returned but we were 2 days too late sadly.
This was from our camping spot:

Duxford is only 30 miles away and yet I’ve never been to the museum. Seems like a fun idea

God, I’d love to meet up with you guys and soak up some of the history. Sadly a trip to Europe is out of my budget. So I’ll be there in spirit.

Would be fun to meet up with people. Maybe it could be a start to do local gatherings first, I am sure there are people closer to each other than you would expect.
In any case, it would be really great to do a group tour to a historical area for example, although I would also be happy with a trip to a good museum too
