Well when I was a teen and also in my early 20s I was playing games competitively. I started the FPS games genre with Doom :’D and later Half-Life and Counter-Strike Beta 6.1
Anyhow quick forward a bit: I was playing CS1.5, 1.6, Source competitively. I also put some RPG in the mix with Dragon Age and (of course) World of Warcraft. I was among the very first Gladiators when they launched the arenas in the first expansion pack: The Burning Crusade, and earned the gladiator titles many times.
I was really a “rank” freak back then. I wanted to rank higher than others in every game.
Fast forward to present time: Nowadays I play games casually – well when I found HLL I quickly sliped back to that state and I played 40+ hours a week, damn. However it isn’t maintainable as now I have a family. So it isn’t like in my 20s. 😀 I have a boy, 9 months old, he is one of the best things that happened to me.
I played (almost) all the CoDs and still have them. I also played with many other games. I also tried myself in the console world. At first playing FPS from a controller was quite challenging but eventually it got quite comfortable. The most pleasant suprise was playing STRATEGY games on console… with controller, lol.
But I like the PC more, and I wanted to reboot my 3D hobby, so I upgraded mine to a 12th generation i7, with an rtx 3080 so I’m back making 3D models and playing PC games in the free time I have, although I kept the PS5. The FIFA is much more enjoyable there.
I was on the lookout for a community. I thought that It might be again a World of Warcraft guild but I’ve lost faith in the next expansion’s success. And of course playing HLL is much more fun for me at the moment. The reason I was looking for a team is: we’d like to raise our boy bilingual and I try to grasp every opportunity to improve my English. Strange how priorities change in a few years… 🙂 I still care about ranks in ranked games but not addicted to them anymore. I no longer hit the wall if we lose a League of Legends ranked match…
I’d like to join this community, because I got quite fond of it. Nowadays I only play on PBS servers only, so maybe this could be it.
