      With the FOY crash now fixed as well as the Physx crash fix I decided to do a very quick unscientific test on performance. DX12 is still not full supported.

      These results are just from glancing at the FPS counter in Geforce Experience. If you want me to do a more comprehensive test I’d be happy to get averages, frame times etc. But with ALT+TAB being an issue I wouldnt really recommend playing with it on unless you see a significant performance boost that makes the game more playable on a lower spec machine.

      Lots of stuttering and asset pop in on first spawn but smoothes out after a few seconds and then feels like a smoother experience

      DX12 will crash your game if you ALT+TAB though

      Test Methodology?

      Not really one but in case you are curious – Basically just spawned in at HQ looked around and ran a few meters before emptying a full clip and reloading. Nothing fancy as it was the simplest baseline to reproduce.

      Observations

      – DX12 minimum frames are much worse than DX11

      – Playing in windowed Mode DX11 seems better than DX12 but if you play in any other mode rather play in DX12 for better averages if you don’t find the dips too jarring

      – FullScreen is worse in performance than Windowed or Windowed FullScreen it seems

      – Crashes only happen in FullScreen, Windowed or Windowed FullScreen with DX12 on does not crash the game when alt+tabbing

      And how do you change the settings of DX 11 and DX 12? I don’t see this option.

      DX12 makes my game crash almost every time, no matter what map. Sometimes even before i actually get into a game but in game Queu it crashes already

      Haven’t had any crashes after I took the game away from my computer and did a clean reinstall (as some one tipped about). Since last week I have used DX12 and just got the Alt+Tab crash. So take the game away and reinstall it and see if it solves you problem.

      how do you guys setup DX12 ? Just add -dx12 in startoptions? Anythhing else?

      Yeah, thats about is indeed. Added DX12 to the startup settings.

      i just wached the video that Deff posted on discord. Ill give those a try. Setting it up on windowed instead of fullscreen etc.

      It crashes when doing ALT+TAB , going to test in windows mode. But def. a boost of performance!

      For me Alt+Tab worked fine when I change to Windowed Fullscreen. I get about 30% better performance in DX12 mode.

      Seem to hit higher frame count but i am experiencing more stuttering with DX12, with Dx11 it seems to run smoother for me but frames do drop by 10%. wich is marginal.

      i will probably stick with Dx11 for now.

      My picture still so “pixelated or low res” when i’m on aim down sight, everything else is fine no lags or stuttering… tried to set textures to epic but still the same. Is there a trick or setting to ged rid of this?

      I necro’d this thread with a lengthy reply but it bugged and didn’t send it so I’ll try and be more concise this time.

      DX12 helped with my stuttering immensely and made the game actually playable, though didn’t completely solve it. FPS is also higher across the board as with DX11 the GPU was normally being underutilised at about 45-70% most times. Perhaps there’s been some optimisation during this time. I play at 1440p 240Hz and my specs are the EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra, i7 11700K and 32gb DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. I do however have it installed on the HDD and not on one of the SSDs due to space constraints.

      I’ve got rx 6700 xt and ryzen 9 5900x with 12 cores and with using dx 12 I’ve got 90-170 fps at 1440p resolution

      More or less the same i’m experiencing. Better FPS but increased stutter with DX12.. :/

      Absolutely agree, DX12 gives better frames but alot more micro stutters. Im running GSYNC and have it locked to 144hz on my widescreen at 4k but I run it in DX11 as its alot better. I dont care about the FPS as I have a high end rig (latest AMD CPU and Nvidia 3090) but I want smooth gameplay at the very least.

      Hopefully they fix this soon.

       

      Multiple driver update does not impact the issue and all other games are fine.

      Biggest improvement I found was turning off SSAO, I have only enabled DX12 recently and can’t say conclusively any increase in stuttering but definitely the FPS to be higher.

      Still think the game requires another couple of optimisation passes.

      I also have -useallavailablecores setup alongside -dx12 in steam launch parameters. Not sure if it provides any tangible improvements.

      Running Radeon super res 1440 to 4k  DX12 and runs great also have SSAO on but does crash if i alt tab or control/alt/del taskmaster

      I have been running the DX12 version for about a week now and I must say it is great. Performance has increased by a lot and also there is much less frame drops even in highly crowded areas or areas with alot of smoke, streets etc. Im not getting any crashes or anything… I must say that Im on quite beefy PC, rocking an RTX 3080 and a 5900X, in 4k resolution, so Im impressed on how DX12 performs in comparison to DX11. I would totally recommend you guys to try it out

      I had a half decent gaming laptop, with 10th Gen i7, 16GB ram and a 3060. I found that DX11 ran better, as the GPU was more of the bottleneck. Sadly the laptop fell over, so I had to revive my old desktop PC, (4th Gen i5, 16GB Ram and 6800XT). The CPU is the bottleneck, so I run the graphics on high with DX12, Have a couple stutters on first spawn, but otherwise run pretty smooth. Maybe 1 or 2 stutters when playing. but on DX11, CPU bottlenecks frequently. and I get a massive stutter.

      Or as people that know me… the stutter and lag are my excuses for poor accuracy. I am really a pro gamer… actually, I’m perfect.

      DX12 used to just not work too well for me on HLL – though now that I’ve moved computers and the game is more updated, I’ll have to give it another go. From what I’m reading it brings on a lot of stutters though although at least one post says it’s fine – will have to see for myself! I will say, I wish DX12 worked on more games than it seems to – or, at the very least, worked *well* on more games.

      Strangely enough the DX11 was more “stuttery” than the DX12. Tree’s look more fleshed out on DX12 as do the colours.

       

      The only real issue that I saw with DX12 is the texture ‘pop in’ is reduced when zooming in on tanks.

       

      I suppose that is great in some ways as enemy vehicles and soldiers stick out like a sore thumb.
