      Hello! I want to discuss one thing. This theme was offered by our glorious clan leader this March, but i don’t remember any consequences.

      Now our clan has 3 servers and they all run long campaign. But, as I see, clan members prefer only one server (No 2 with custom maps). So can we improve this by switching one server (for example, No 3) to map rotation?

      Firstly, servers with map rotation are still popular. Secondly, map rotation with 2-round matches was the only popular option for a long time since the game release. Thirdly, diversity is good. Now we can’t play any Supremacy map, Resort or Charlie Don’t Surf on our servers.

      My own wish is to see a server with all vanilla TE and SU maps + some good custom maps. If you want some other variants of map rotation or want to keep all servers in campaign mode, please comment, because I’m afraid it’s only my dumb wish.

      Hello

       

      Thanks for your proposal , but here is the things you should know:

      • Campaign is the most successfull mode
      • Non campaign is not so successfull
      • Supremacy maps are even less successfull!

      So i dont think the server will have much improvement on successrate at all.

      I have just two counterarguments:

      1. Servers with map rotation are in top 10: #4 (=]H[= Hardcore Gaming 24/7 Territories Rotation), #5 (-=PR=-GAMING #3 | HELI MAPS ONLY | LOW PING | PHANTOMREBELS.COM) and #8 (-=PR=-GAMING #1 | MAP VOTING | LOW PING | PHANTOMREBELS.COM). They are above our server #3 (9th place).
      2. Diversity on our servers can attract more people to our servers and our clan. Now we only recruit campaign fans and totally miss rotation enjoyers.

      In my opinion, playing campaign only is dull. That’s it

      All in all, we should have at least one server with map rotation. It’s the most popular mode among the game veterans who play since launch

      While I like the idea of not having server 1 and 3  being identical, I’d suggest a short vanilla campaign.
      With campaign being the most popular option at the moment (if we look at the top 10 servers right now, 6 are campaign (#1, #2, #3, #6, #7, #9), 3 rotation (#4, #5, #8)), I think it’s quite the risk to change server 3 to map rotation.

      Personally I’d prefer a short campaign on #3 to a map rotation; as Ida says campaign is vastly more popular.

       

      Another thing I’d say is that having a map rotation is a disincentive to “staying the course”, and would result in less popular maps emptying the server when they come around. People are more likely to stay for a few maps if there’s continuity, as with a campaign.

      I suggest to turn campaign off for some days. If server falls below top 15, it’ll be clear that rotation is bad. If server rises in rank, rotation forever

      Btw what’s the point in having two identical servers where no members play?

      The public plays on them, so that are potential members.

      Its normal that our members and many people want to game on server 2 because its campaign and gets refreshed by custom maps.  However custom maps are not always good for ranking. Server 1 & 2 take care of it.

      Steamroll on campaign is a bugger. Steamroll on map rotation would/could result in the same 3 maps being chosen over and over again, making it tedious and unenjoyable for people on the losing side, thus killing the server. Whereas campaign still gives the losing side a feeling of a comeback and achievements.

      As I said on discord, personally I would make another server (server 4), in order to do not confuse already established server player base.  Or in case if this option is unavailable, then you can change Server 3 to whatever mod you want in order to see if people will like it. If it will get enough people on it, then it can stay, and if not, then change it back.

      It’s hard enough to get 3 servers started each day. With a 4th it would be impossible to get them all filled since we are not using bots like other clans to fill up map rotation servers. Campaign prevents losing players in a short time and is more popular. Short campaign carries the same danger in turning into US steamroll quickly and dying due to lack of players.

      We have our Test-/War-Server tho. If you want to try out something or play a specific map we can change this server to a mode & map you want. However the testserver isn’t an actively idled server so players are supposed to start it on their own.
