One of the lingering issues with Battlefield 1 since launch is the lack of a robust end-game or progression system. Currently, DICE has a carrot on a stick for players in the form of the puzzle piece melee weapons and the codex, but other additions like medals and ribbons don’t offer much else aside from XP or the occasional dogtag.

The good news is DICE is listening to the community.

While at EA Play, I had a chance to speak with DICE LA Producer Andrew Gulotta, who dropped a bit of a bombshell, teasing more depth and progression is coming to Battlefield 1 in the form of “Specializations,” and players will want to pursue them.

More details are expected at Gamescom, but it’s exciting news for Battlefield 1 nonetheless.
