Howdy folks,
We all love military stuff, we all are somehow fascinated by WW2, so what is your favourite piece of equipment or machinery that took place on battlefields during WW2 and why? Also post a pic if you can to make this thread nice-lookin’.
Mine is definitely JU-87. It is such an iconic airplane, using dive bombing strategy with auto-leveling in case pilot passed out during the run. It was not really efective as war progressed but early on it was magnificent machine that striked fear into any enemy soldier.

The best looking ww2 aircraft is the later versions of the Spitfire. I just love those rounded wings.

For me the Blitzkrieg itself, the new way of war, combined tactics with real time communications without the traditional delays. Also the occupation of the western countries, the efficiency they had until Hitler made the biggest mistake to go for the east to early. The most popular object for me as far as i can remember starting to have fascination for the WW2 was the MP40 SMG. I think i had one as a toy weapon back on the 80’s or so.

I think for me it has to be German tanks like the Tiger and the King Tiger, just for the psychological impact they had (especially the Tiger) and the fact they remained as a symbol of WWII and tanks in general. In fact I’m so into it I built models of them, among a bunch of other WWI and WWII tanks.

For me it has to be Radar. Without it the UK would have been a smoking ruin and probably invaded by 1941

Well, there is a lot of things from the war I like, guns, guns & more guns.. 🙂
But I think the propaganda war was fascinating (from both sides), I like the old posters. 🙂

For me there are as many say above, so many things to love,
but this one beast screams at me everytime i see one online/ in a game / in a museum, in which i pray to HLL devs they will bring this to the game one day,
The Jadgtiger and absolute monster sporting a absolutely huge 128mm gun, originally designed and designated to be fit to Panthers and Tiger 1’s when tested they found it was simply too much for the named chassis, in 1943 a wooden mock up on a Tiger 2 chassis was presented to Hitler and later was then entered into production in 1944,
The 71-tonne Jagdtiger was the heaviest armored fighting vehicle, used operationally by any participant nation of WWII and is the heaviest combat vehicle of any type to achieve series production during the conflict. The vehicle was armed with a 128 mm PaK 44 L/55 main gun which was capable of outranging and defeating any tank or AFV fielded by the Allied forces.
It saw brief service in small numbers from late 1944 up until the end of the war on both the Western and Eastern Front. Although 150 were ordered, only around eighty were produced. Due to an excessive weight and a significantly underpowered drivetrain system, the Jagdtiger was continuously plagued with various mobility and mechanical problems. At present, three Jagdtigers survive in different museums around the world.
kind of proud of the 3 of these left in museums one is not too far from where i live in the UK –
- Dorset UK – The British tank museum (the one ive seen) – One of the 11 Porsche–designed suspension-equipped variants, it was captured by British troops in April 1945 near the armour proving ground at Sennelager, Germany, where it was undergoing testing and trials
- National Armor & Cavalry Museum USA Fort Benning, Georgia
- Kubinka Tank Museum near Moscow
^ The Jagdtiger In all its glory.
^ One of 3 Last surviving Jagdtigers presented at Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset. (the one i fell in love with)

The ME262
This is probably the most important WW2 plane as it heavily inspired the designs of the B47-stratojet and the F-86 Sabre

the sound the M1 Garand makes when you empty the cartridge is probably the most iconic thing from a gaming perspective.
I think in general it would have to be the flying fortress. or mabye the Thompson smg

This was impressive:
A Royal Air Force Wing Commander has described how Second World War Spitfire pilots might have used their airborne skills to tip V1 Flying Bombs out of the sky to bring them down.
The tactic has become the subject of urban legend, with many social media commentators discussing if the method is simply a myth, or whether pilots really did use this risky tactic to bring down the feared bombs that were also known as buzz bombs or doodlebugs and which were the early forerunners for modern drones or cruise missiles.
Wing Commander Nick Robson, of today’s RAF Air Command High Wycombe, said: “This was not a routine action.

My favourite piece of equipment is really obscure, I was blown away by the inflatable vehicles and tanks assembled on the British coastline…..not an obvious piece of killing machinery, more a cerebral sideswipe at the enemy, the mind games played by Churchill and his team were essential to the outcome of the war….not really as directly as the Bazooka for example or the Tiger tanks but just as effective in the long run. Personally the innovation in equipment was mind blowing but the minds behind them far more interesting.

Who am I kidding, I adore the Spitfires…every one of them!
