US G.I. smashing a German Mauser Karabiner 98 kurz against a Maschinengewehr 34 to render them unusable, France, 1944. The busted stock of another Mauser rifle can be seen on the ground to the right, and it looks as though the MG-34’s stock has already been broken off. Some Stahlhelm M35’s and bandolier pouches have also been left behind.
