This photo, taken on November 23, 1944, near Geilenkirchen, Germany, shows PFC William G. Curtis (San Diego, California) and PFC Donald R. Stratton (Colville, Washington) enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner. Day after day, battle after battle, these two members of the 102nd Infantry Division confronted German forces, and risked their lives to liberate towns they didn’t know, and people they didn’t know. William and Donald both survived the war.
