[Pilfinger]

Aloha folks!

My real name is Nick but ingame I go by “Pilfinger” or “Pil”, which I also go by on Discord. I’m probably just your 37 year old gamer dad of two awesome boys, and I play when I feel like it and when life lets me. My priorities in life are centered around my boys, but I probably spend 2 or 3 nights a week in front of my PC. I’m a very social gamer, and often times I’ve found it was more important to me who I played with, than what we’ve actually played. That being said, I usually avoid overly competitive games like the plague. It’s not the games themselves I despise – it’s the attitude it usually brings out in people. I’m rather new to HLL but so far I’ve found the community super friendly and welcoming, and it seems to me like there’s a real push towards making newcomers feel at home and showing them the ropes. I love that kinda stuff. HLL also really plays into the history nerd in me, and I absolutely LOVE that it’s more about benefitting as a team than racking up an impressive K/D ratio for you to brag about. I’ve always loved the team support role in any game I’ve played, but in this game you’re actually commended for it!

I’m danish, so english is not my first language. I’m pretty proficient but I’m still learning the military lingo. I’ve found deep love for the squad leader role as well, so I’m doing all I can to be as effective as I can when communicating and organizing troop movements. I’m still learning though!

I’ve been a gamer all my life but at various levels of intensity. I was always a storied gamer, preferring long, drawn-out epics to fast paced competitive titles. Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, The Witcher, Assassin’s Creed.. stuff like that. I was an adult before I really found any joy in playing with others. These days I really enjoy it but only if we’re all just down for a good time. As soon as it turns into a pissing contest I’m out. I just dont have the mental stamina to cope with these ‘mines bigger than yours’ types. But thanks to ‘mute’ and ‘block’ buttons, I’ve enjoyed a lot of time in Diablo 2 and 4, Destiny 2, WoW. It HAS been a while since I’ve felt as sucked in by a game as I do right now with HLL. I don’t even like FPS all that much usualy..

Anyway, short story long.. I’m having a blast with this game and I’ve decided to stick around. I wanna get to know people and take my game to a higher level, and I hear the best way to do that is to join up with a group like yours. I met one of you guys ingame (Sly) and he seemed like a nice chap. Spoke well of you lot. So here I am! Besides.. I watch Band of Brothers probably 3 times a year. It just all adds up.
