Hi Guys, I wanted to collect a few tips and tricks here for anybody interested in tanking. Feel free to add to the collection.
So here goes the first one:
To cover a greater area you can turn the tank and give the driver a firing sector where he will eliminate everything in sight while you give the gunner another sector. its nice if they overlap but its not necessary depending on your position. Give the driver the one sector that’s close range and the gunner the long range one.
You can do the same if you are duo tanking and use markers to define the firing sectors.
Below a picture that should explain the idea even if it has some other idea behind it.

Part 2: How to regain tank dominance if you loose your advantage.
I think we all know the situation you just lost all your tanks and the enemy has at least two heavy’s on the field. How do you regain control to be able to push back and start supporting the infantry in an offensive manner again?
The main goal in this time period is just to hold back the enemy from pushing until you have control of your resources again where you can risk loosing one of your tanks in an offensive play.
First you need to get a heavy again, until then the infantry has to manage the enemy tanks with at guns and other resources. After you play a slow game so you position yourself defensively and make sure that there is no enemy infantry sneaking around or that you are standing protected with your own infantry. Note that the position you use needs to be far enough back and controllable that even in case you get attacked by enemy infantry you can fend them off without worrying about enemy heavy tanks.
From this position you can try to pick off enemy heavys but only in a way that you can take cover directly after getting hit or being in danger of getting hit.All you want to do is nurture this tank threw and pose a threat to the enemy heavys so they can not push. Only once you have a second heavy you can start to counterpush in a coordinated attempt with the other heavy. For example you can double peak and take out one of the enemy heavys or create a crossfire, cover each other and do other magic things.
Hope that helpes someone =)
PS. the numbers may vary depending on the enemy constellation and playstyle and the frontline.

Part 3 How to angle your tank:
Something that many underestimate is angling the Tank. If you do it Properly you have a chance to bounce a shot giving you a crucial advantage.
Angling is effective for:
- Mediums against Mediums and At rockets (German)
- Heavys against Heavys
How the game currently is played an angle around 40-45 degrees to the enemy tank can be effective in bouncing their shell, if you overangle you can be penetrated in the side so its useful to integrate hard cover into your positioning. Alternatively you can also angle once the enemy is about to shoot with the adrenalin going of the enemy gunner it can very well happen that he gets tricked like this.Β To be honest the best tip to get a feel for angling is to go and do it. So if you want to have an edge over the enemy you either can hop on an empty server to train it (use a repstation to get more tries) Or just start gradually using it during gameplay. And soon you will be invincible π

Part 4: Recon tank.
Matchstart: Load HE as it destroys everything you can destroy against a competent enemy with one shot and is better in fighting infantry. The possible tasks of the recon tank at the match start are the following:
- Take out and or snipe enemy trucks
- destroy enemy spawn points
- transport squad leaders
- take a pic to spot the enemy approach
During the match you can fulfill different tasks in your recon tank but in general a recon tank is not very effective against good players in a team as many of the better players will hit you while driving at 100m+
This tasks will be:
- take out spawnpoints
- hold an alleyway
- hold a flank where you are around 300m away and in control
- defend a spawn point
- and the most unsung but useful to my mind transport squad leads through somewhere where they would get shot but in the recon tank they might just have a chance
- you will not succeed in taking out enemy tanks if the crews are halfway competent BUT you are the perfect and annoying distraction needed for the heavy tank of your team to peak even if its you dying in an instant if it leads to your heavy getting the first shot inΒ it was worth it.
- take the picture π
Feel free to add. Next up lights and mediums.
