Hey, I’m an old player. Just hit my 50’s but I’ve been around a long time. I was old enough to remember when the first computers were released. I was one of the lucky kids to have actually owned a computer. Many of my peers thought I was rich. I think I just came from a middle class. My dad worked hard, and my mom did the whole hours wife motherly stuff. One of the best game computers I played on was the Amiga. The games on that computer were just the best around. Kids from all over the block would come to ask if they could play on that computer. Thing is, I wasn’t popular, but my computer was. I joined the Army when I was 18 and after getting out of training I bought my first IBM computer. I remember once staying home “sick” playing the entire Wolfenstein game with all additional maps. Was one of the first, first person shooter games. I played in all day till I completed it and had to run into the bathroom to throw up because of how dizzy the game made me. I didn’t want to touch a game ever like that again but then Doom came and Duke Nukem and then Rise of the Triad which was the first game I played as a network game to kill each other. My brother even wrote a program for it to allow you to make custom levels. I’m sure there were a few other first-person shooters out there but those are the ones I remember the best.
When the internet started, I did play around with it A LOT. Somehow, I ended up with an internet provider that I was able to use without having to pay for it so I got unlimited hours and didn’t pay a dime. Then Ultima Online was released. One of the greatest games I’ve ever played. I played that game for a straight 7 years pretty much any time I could play it. Through school I trained in the information technology field which allowed me to sit at work and play online. I played the hell out of that game and even had my own group called “The Celts”. I also had a website for the game called “Crossroads of Britannia” which was a VERY popular site back then. Because of that sight the game company gave me a free account to play Ultima Online with, so I never paid to play that game. I did try getting into World of Warcraft but when people started leaving Ultima Online it depressed me enough that I also stopped playing but did not have any desire to pour my time into a game like that again. I never really got into the Call of Duty games or Halo like so many others were. I played some Rainbow Six games but most of my first-person shooter experience was playing alone until Battlefield 1942 came out as well Hidden and Dangerous which really sparked my love for World War 2 games. Thats what brought me to Hell Let Loose. I really wanted to play something similar to Battlefield 1942 and stumbled on Hell Let Loose. While the game is challenging and frustrating at times, I for some reason just kept playing it. I had just recently left my focus from GTA V and Reddead Online and began trying my best to just get good at that game. It’s still hard so I had to just put a focus in my brain that if you can just get one kill a game, that’s all that matters. I was part of Dark Horizon. I had a Admin Position so that I could monitor the servers and take in abuse reports. However Dark Horizon for some reason just stopped playing. When I asked them about why they quit it’s because too many people were taking the game too serious and expecting people to be really good at the game. So, A LOT of those players game up and said that the game sucks and they won’t be playing it anymore. So, I guess from inactivity the group shut down. I’ve played a few FNF’s and really enjoy them. I’ve tried to find a new group to replace Dark Horizon, but I’ve been finding that groups are either not very active or people are not always playing every day, or some groups would not accept me as a member do to my game stats being low and wanted me to get better at the game before I became a fill member. I think that’s bullshit and that’s the kind of thing that ruins a game. I don’t expect to win or am obsessed with it or brag about how good I am and how many people I’ve killed. It’s about just having fun with a game and hanging out with good friends. When it gets too competitive like that, it just ruines the entertainment. If this group is expecting me to get better at playing, then this group is not right for me. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this game. I’ve spent hours watching videos as well as even at one point opening up my own server to learn the game mechanics. But due to anxiety issues I hands get really shaky and my aim is bad and often delayed so that the opponent always has the upper hand on me. So don’t expect adding a skilled player to this game. I’ve done my best to be good at this game but I’m just not good at PVP games. Hopefully you all share the same view as I do, and I look forward to joining this group.
