By Jared Creasy – Community Manager, Tripwire InteractiveRising Storm 2: Vietnam is a 64 Player Online Battleground that emphasizes asymmetric gameplay and hardcore mechanics to create a realistic war experience in a multiplayer environment.
I know, I know. The above sentence that our guys in marketing drummed up may sound a little robotic, but it’s exactly what the game is. Having been a part of this series since its inception, I can assure you that we have spent years dialing in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam to make it one of the most well-balanced shooters you can get your hands on. Once you have a proper understanding of its various systems, you’ll be winning medals left and right.
Now that it’s free this week on the Epic Games Store, odds are you’ll be taking a chopper onto the battlefield for the very first time. So here’s a nice list to help you get your boots on the ground for the very first time.
Understand Both Sides
Each faction in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. Depending on which side you’re playing as, your character will have varying equipment types and power-ups that can be used to help turn the tides in battle.
The Southern factions focus on superior firepower and air superiority while the Northern factions utilize speed and surprise with guerilla tactics and a variety of equipment and traps. On your way to victory, it’s important to understand how to play both sides effectively.
Know Your Role
Once you learn to effectively communicate, spot enemies, and coordinate with your team, your chances of turning the tides of the war will exponentially grow. Each team in RS2: Vietnam is divided into squads that work together to complete their own goals. Playing the objectives, cutting the enemies ability to reinforce them, and picking a class that will help to balance your squad’s abilities is imperative if you want to win the battle for your side.
Think like a soldier
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam isn’t your mama’s first-person shooter. Its heavy emphasis on hardcore mechanics gives it an edge that you don’t find in many other historic war shooters. After all, real wars aren’t won by any one single person. Rewire your brain to be less “run and gun†and a little more tactical, and you’ll be on your way to victory in no time. Stay low, pause in cover to consider where you and your squad want to move next, and what likely enemy positions exist between you and that goal. Standing tall and being loud attracts bullets, and they have the right of way.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is available for free on the Epic Games Store this week only. Add it to your library today!
