PVP Live: Battlefield 1 added in ten more levels to the previous cap of 100 with their new DLC, They Shall Not Pass. However, they severely increased the amount of experience required to earn per level. We spoke with one of the first Battlefield 1 players to hit level 110, Oh_Nomoko, for insight. He shared his tips on leveling faster, how to win more, and the classes he believes play out the best within They Shall Not Pass.

Oh Nomoko informs us that going from rank 100 to 110 was surprisingly quick, taking only about 2-3 days to accomplish. Granted, the XP event was a tremendous help when stacked with squad boosts, but they also increased the XP gain of medals to about five times what they were prior.

While he enjoys all the classes and has gotten the four main ones to level 50, he recommends the Scout class as being the most viable for the new DLC overall. Endless ammo, weapons spanning any range of engagement, and a great assortment of gadgets sees Support as a sort of top infantry on Soissons and Verdun Heights.

When it comes to the weapons of They Shall Not Pass, Oh Nomoko is quite happy. He says it is refreshing when a game releases content that isn’t brokenly overpowered, or so under-powered they never get used. After having spent most of his time since the DLC launched using them, their strengths and drawbacks are fairly well defined.

If you, like Oh Nomoko, are the type of player looking to rush to level 110 by using every quick XP trick you know, he has one simple piece of advice: Think creatively. He expanded by saying that with the boost to XP gains certain medals, [they] are worth repeating for that extra boost. It should be noted, the final part of the medals that are worth 25k becomes 50k when completed while under the effects of a squad boost. This applies to the Elite Codex entries as well.

Using the Companion App allowed him to track his remaining three elite codex entries to 499/500 and once the XP event started, they become worth 100k each, netting over 430,000 total XP in a single game of Conquest.

Oh Nomoko references a player by the Reddit name of LoadedGull who used this same method in a Frontline game during the event to score a massive 1.2 million plus using seven Elite Codices.

He continues: In terms of day to day leveling, do everything that might gain you XP with whatever class you are playing. Destroy tanks, drop ammo into crowds of players, use spot flares in every large fight, roam with a squad and keep them topped with bandage pouches.

What he tends to do is spot literally everything, including enemies he’ll be firing at half a second later in the off chance he dies first. A marked enemy means it’s more likely someone will finish them off, netting the player a spot bonus, kill assist or assist counts as kill, and helps the team overall.

His last piece of advice is a bit blunt, so pardon me for saying: Play the Fucking Objective! Doing something like capping a flag can net a player anywhere from 600 to over 1000 points each, doubled with a squad boost. That being said, if you aren’t going to reach the flag before it gives 125 points, it isn’t worth going to because you will not get the 500 point capture bonus. Call it a loss and move to the next objective.
