After a recent chat with frank where i said that in my previous clan we had stopped vote changes and gone for rotation in bf4 we has a real drop off in people attending the server. However I have been reconsidering this particularly over the weekend where it seemed that only three to four maps were getting air time while i was on and with a rotation of over 20 maps this seems to be having a negative affect too.
I wonder what others think and would it be worth seeing a few more of what we have to offer by bringing in rotation say on peek nights to start with to see if it makes any diffrence to numbers if there is a sudden drop we can always go back but if it improves demand it may be worth rolling it out on more nights?
On a personal note I am sorry i have been on less and less recently. This is because of work and I am getting a real hammering of getting up at 430 each morning and getting back at 730 at night. Not much fun and the only remedy is to look for another job which is going to be a bit of a slow process so please bare with me.

I think rotation would help from playing the same maps over and over again since it seems like with the voting people only want to play 3 or 4 maps and that’s about it.

to be honest, rotation and variation is always a pleasant thing to have. as and example: i used to play bf4 alot but the servers i liked only were stuck on OP metro so it got a bit boring. if you get what i trying to say. so rotation would be a great idea. and when the big update goes live id be happy so see a balanced gameplay of like ANZAC and US

Well that’s because most supremacy maps aren’t all that fun to play, most people prefer territories over it as well. I’m personally one of them lol but maybe we can look into setting up something where folks can vote for maps to be added/removed to/from the rotation as well.

Today i am going to try the best of both worlds: Having a map vote, but excluding the last 6 maps played, so people have to vote for a newer map 🙂

I think that rotation is better than voting for the next map everytime. Our server has plenty of different maps and it is a shame to play the same 3/4 maps over and over again… I don’t know if i’m going off-topic with this but: Yesterday we played a map in which you could only use marksman. I mean, it was not that bad but i think that’s a mode that should remain on CoD or other arcade-FPS, furthermore in close combat almost no one used sniper rifles so it was a bit pointless to use the sniper instead of pistol.

Is there no way to compromise between the two ? Can you not set it so that it is on rotation – but people can still vote in game to alter the next map in rotation (without sending them to the vote screen at the end of the round) there fore if a map on rotation is not popular there is still the option to out vote it.

That actualy happens that people can vote ingame and it adds to the vote on end round.
The complaint about voting is that the same maps get voted..
De system now is that de server rememberd the 8 last maps chosen and removes them from the votelist…
This way we have a better system.

Hi all, my frisrt post:)
I think the last 8 maps is too much…i agree that is boring play ever same 2-3 maps, but for ppl with no time (like me, generally i play 2 hours in the evening) will be impossible, for ex, play new custon map. In this game matches are too long (especially with 3 rounds).
Maybe removes last 3-4 maps?

Like it, however I think I’d still drop from 3 rounds to 1 round per match. I think quite a few players only want to play as one faction (i always go US where possible) and I like the idea of rattling through the maps after 1 round to keep it fresh 🙂

Personally I think in game voting is a definite mistake as people will constantly start votes when they dont have what they want from the last vote meaning constant map changing and eventually empty server.
I think rotation should be rolled out on busy days like the weekend only see how it goes if the people dont like it then go with what the majority want.
Powerbits< who do you see this working out.

To be clear its 1 round each sides, so 2 rounds. But there is a tiemap too.
The big reason for the 1 round each side is to keep it fair… some maps are better on VC or VS side, so thats kind of fair
I think the “smart” maprotation with exclusion of last 8 maps chosen do have a advantage:
- People get a sence that they still can vote for something
- Specific maps like sipermaps have to get voted
- Less repetition of maps
Lets keep an eye out and see 🙂

Sounds pretty controversial.
the Point of giving players with not much time a chance, is very important. Nevertheless was one of the Most important points playing in PBS the use of custom maps.
Another solution could be, is setting vote on one day and rotation on the other. Maybe then there’s a better statistic about the preferences of the players. But that only makes sense when it runs automaticly and has not to be set by hand.
By the way, I like the system of excluding the previous maps. About the number I’m not quite sure.

If we are voting, my vote is to, disable the voting (or enable rotation, depends on how you look at it 😀 ) and remove the moon map.

I’m just thinking out of the box. But we have loads of maps and each map takes a long time to play both sides. So since none of us can play 12h straight,  I was thinking that if the server has a smaller amount of maps in rotation example 4, and to have more maps played these 4 get changed every couple of days. The maps can get announced here on the site and possibly by vote regulated. This might bring variation to the server. Because as I read in this thread the same maps get picked, which follows out of the fact that the others are less known, and less know means people who play less regularly try to vote for the maps they know best.
Side note, is it possible to see stats of which maps are played? Because this might help in the rotation making it more enjoyable and not having all new maps in rotation. So putting a known map with some new.
I can imagine that sometimes new maps aren’t great and these need to be tested by the public. So there the short rotation comes in where people can provide feedback in setting up the new rotation for the next x days.
Third, the original maps are also still good, putting one in rotation ones in a while might be nice. Just because we play them less it adds to the variations of maps.
This was me just thinking out loud, hope someone finds it useful.

Only 4maps in rotation would be silly , lots of work and bad for the servers public image.
There is a rotation and people vote does count..they mostly vote for customs because thats the power of our server.
As said 6 maps get excluded who are just played..so there is no repetition.
Thats the best we can do for the moment.

Personally love this idea. When it comes to rotation, I always end up online at the same time, so I only ever get to play 1-2 maps. I like the flexibility of map voting with the enhancement of not being able to vote for the same map over, and over, and over. If I wanted that, I’d play on one of the servers playing only vanilla maps. Love them, but can’t stand the same thing on repeat. I’d be playing CoD for all git, LOL.
Just the 2 cents of the newbie in the area. I appreciate that you have custom maps in general.

Maybe small tip,: start voting a map you want mid game , chances are allot of people will agree and your map could win the vote…
