      Hi team,

I have the request that we should focus a little more on tactics. Especialy on multiple squads, squadleaders and commander…

Sure we can have a laugh , but lets focus some more..

      Group up and do teamplay.

      Do you agree?

Maybe an idea to investigate some maps together on the pbs war server and give each other some tips or hints or to see what is the best attack for objectives ?

    • #15194

We can do that too on a day in the week, but lets focus also in our normal gameplay 🙂

    • #15199

I think Frankie is talking about regular 64 player gaming. And yes I agree. There has been a lot of goofing around in the RS2 channel lately. Now I am no fuddy-duddy (I myself have been known to fuck around too much) who takes this game TOO serious (because it IS just a game) and I enjoy some pissing about and having a laugh just as much as the next guy or gal, but too much is too much. When we go over the top and spam the RS2 channel with joking, singing and quoting daft shit, we are ruining the tactical experience of the game and fucking it up for players who wants to play in a more serious fashion. Now, we DO have two channels so if you REALLY feel the urge to spass out on the comms, switch to the other channel. However, that kind of spoils the fun, because I like it when we are many people playing the game together. Captain Stefano out

Being tactical is the greatest part of the franchise.  Their is nothing I love more than leading inexperienced players into combat and being successful.  I find that its most rewarding when I don’t know the members of the squad.  Building a fire-team as the maps progress is very fun. The other night I played with a few lads through two or three maps. By the end of it we were; calling shots, covering fire, suppressing the enemy, resupplying the machine gunner and swiftly taking objectives. The other week, on firebase georgina, I had my greatest Vietnam experience yet. Our team was highly communicative. We had just lost objective Charlie (we were American) and I requested to my TL that we tactically retreat due to tickets. Everyone agreed. We sprinted back through the rice paddies and up the hill to objective Foxtrot. When we got there we had a perfect view of the 350-400m distance between delta and foxtrot. Open ground boys. With 60 tickets we laid nonstop fire at the enemy as they tried to run through the open fields. Machine guns were overheating, smoke was everywhere, iron sights were adjusted. Against all odds we miraculously held the VC off and won the round. With that being said I think we should try this. PBS members should act as officers. We should fill the squad-leader roles.  If each of us is a squad leader we can bring the communication, tactics and maturity that we all look for in RSV. Imagine a disciplined, military style game environment.

Well,… Yesterday played with 40-1 guys.. hard to get an objective.. they suprisingly are always on both at left and right side of an objective, and relocate after a kill.. while one or two are on the objective.. first two times we were focussed on the objecrive trying to sneek up and kill the guys to capture. But that really didnt work 😃 lol…

I will join you in tactic operations)) I had experience of tactic playing with the clan in BF3 some yeras ago. Those guys playing and training  everyday for several hours, GOD! I was very impressed by the level of skill and attitude. They have so much free time! But they all were teenagers with squeaky voices))

I can agree on that for sure, but just as we have like we do now but with more focus on the game then just “off-topics” chit-chat

    • #16882

Yeah we dont have go all serious , but squadleaders should lead their squads and communicate fellow SL …

Fight for objectives not just K/D

A liitle bit of this would go a long way 🙂

We could make one of the RS2 channels push-to-talk only for when we feel more ”tactical” or when there is 10+ people in the channel.
Kinda forcing people to only push that button when they really have something game relevant to say.
So people can fool around and sing or eat chips with microphones in their mouths all they want but not annoy other people with it.

I know it’s hard to get used to PTT at first but when there is 10+ people in a channel it’s sometimes really hard to make sence of what is going on.
+ there is no echo when peope are using ingame chat.

push to talk is easy. Just buy a cheap usb foot pedal. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Single-Switch-Control-Keyboard-Plastic/dp/B00GS1HZIU/

There’s better ones made out of metal available from about €20 onwards with single, dual & triple pedal options. I use one myself. I actually bought it for push to talk on teamspeak for BF1 FridayNightBattlefield events. I often use it assigned to my shift key though for sprinting in pubg & other games while playing with people on PBS discord.

Anyway, this is one of the more expensive metal ones. I think Scythe brand is what most people go for? I dunno, I just bought one of the cheap chinese plastic knockoffs to see what it would be like to use one.

I just use my mouse button 4, most of the games don’t map it as default for anything and if they do I just remap it to keep my PTT there.
So given that you do own a mouse with this button, the solution to where to put the PTT button is quite simple 🙂

Aye depends. I’m very clumsy on the keyboard when it comes to having too many key bindings so I often tend to set the 2 side buttons on my mouse to jump & crouch. I know some come with more than 2 buttons like the logitech proteus or whatever it’s called, but you’re quite right, if you don’t map anything to it normally then it would make a good push to talk button; If you do like me then a usb footpedal is a nice cheap alternative. Also good for other things like sprint, reload, driving (accelerator), etc.

    • #17516

i like the idea for push to talk, but if you listen you will hear allot of the same people talking and some not..

So its almost about hearing the quit people talk 🙂

      BUt we can try

Yeah it’s a problem. Then again having voice activation or always transmit on isn’t much difference to be honest Frank; you always get those people that talk more or talk loudly over others. It’s just as hard to get a word in edgeways regardless of which mode is being used, which is why a lot of people including myself tend to be quiet because as soon you try to speak, it’s almost guaranteed one of the more active speakers will end up talking over you rather than waiting, which is likely to happen in games like Rising Storm & Battlefield etc. where there’s lots of people playing on the same team/squad. With PUBG it’s not so bad as there’s only 2-4 people talking, but even on that we end up talking over each other when we end up getting split up.

The biggest problem with voice activation or always transmit is streamers syndrome – basically the need to always talk / narrate everything. This occurs less when you turn push to speak on as you have to mess about pushing a button on your keyboard, mouse, foot pedal or even on your mic if it has a mute switch on it.

I mean I am no saint when it comes to unnecessary comments like ”shit he got me” or ”bullshit” and I have my PTT switched on all the time   But yes, some people talk more and some are more of a silent types. Yet when there is more people on discord I try to restrain myself to as minimum of unnecessary commentary as possible, so only relevant info is passed to other players.

And sorry in advance if I am taking things too far too fast, or if people think that I might be taking the game way too serious, yet I think that we could have a lot more quality matches if we do the following (if people want to, of course ):

      • CHAIN OF COMMAND:
Listen to your CO or commander, what he says is law (we can vote for a new one if he really is performing poorly, but we should all learn to command)
commander gets to order squad leaders around and decide what objective to take. Yet if falls onto SL or squad leaders to decide how his squad would achieve given oreder/objective (direction of approach, where to deploy smokes, what weapons he needs – does he need a pointman/scout up front to detect traps/mines, where should the MG set up to provide cover,…)
Therefore the CO and SL do most of the talking in voice chat for the exceptions of when you spot an enemy or have some other ”important” game related info to report.
So no matter what you think about what your CO has decided or what your SL has you doing, you should do it, even if it proves to be a totally idiotic move, we all learn from mistakes.
      • GET RID OF ”LEFT AND RIGHT”:
People often forget that other players might not be facing the same direction as they are. And if you are saying ”they are on the left side!” enemy might really be on the right side or in front, maybe even behind another player! We have a compass(HUD) and a map in this game, let’s use them! So if you say: ” Enemy is using the eastern approach to Bravo” all the people (I hope) should know where the enemy is. And furthermore, commander can request marks on the east side of Bravo even if he has no recon/scouts available, because what he has, is firsthand info from the front line! Sure, you can spot enemy positions with an appropriate function that is in the game, but the marks ingame are 50% of the time false or just a ”missclick”.
      • TRY NOT TO SHOOT AS SOON AS YOU SEE AN ”ENEMY”:
I know target ID in these games can be hard since half of US guys are running around naked and with bandanas on their heads so it’s easy to mistake them for VC and the VC have some helmets that resemble US helmets at a distance, yet try and look twice if you are no 100% sure about the target and maybe just report an ”unknown contact” to your team mates.
Also if a team is performing a ”wide flank maneuver” to try and get behind the enemy, it is not the wisest thing to shoot at every target you see, especially if they have not spotted you yet. One kill is not worth compromising the entire team, again rather report the contact and keep an eye on him.

I know that most of the people have read just a bit of this before stopping and thinking: the hell is this new guy trying to be so fucking smart about? but I really believe that that this game has the potential to be played a little different, better than most of the FPS games. So maybe, just maybe we could give it a shot?

    • #17520

I think you have some good points, RS2 is not a arcade sissy shooter, but a realistic game wich is fun if real teamplay gets done. Wat i will do is just try it a bit, but also we need to discuss this on discord.

I know @linebuddy will be happy to use this.

Also be patient with each other, have fun

I am very happy with the proposition from @Korobac. This is the way I have trained in airsoft. But it is hard of course since many people have different goals with gaming. Some people just wanna relax and talk shit, but some people who’s in it to win it will become very frustrated if they are trying to coordinate with the team and someone is talking about the value of bitcoin 😉

That’s why I propose to make just one of three RS2 voice channels (or create another) PTT so when people feel like playing ”tactical”, they join that channel?

I think training is useless, you can simply press the M for the map, don’t count on me for that.

The comments in discord are fine only if related to the game or are random swears.

Now, about what Korobac said, right and left are needed, ’cause are still more info you can give to the team, just use it in the right way, for example “Enemy on the left flank of C, South 130”, remember that “right and left” are easier to understand, so in this case first the team will check their left then look down for the compass.

The rest is kinda ok, but if you creep around and scare me I’ll prob shoot…

    • #18565

      Training is just teamwork .

Now its not just to make some people more focused and quiet, but also to make quiet people talk.
