Has someone managed to make it work?

I’ve tried, but failed after several attemps. I have an Nvidia video card.

It does not work for me, but for quick switching you can game in border gaming or start discord via ingame steam

I know that when I tried to use my discord binds (mic mute) it did not work ingame unless I ran discord as an administrator. Try it out, it cant hurt. Unless you are already running discord as an administrator.

I use push-to-talk with Discord and it works fine. Overlay has never worked for me.

I have discord open on a 2nd monitor to see who is talking.

The problem is, with so many people speaking I find it hard to understand who exactly is talking. This is why I’d appreciate to enable the overlay

I’ve contacted the discord’s developers about RS2 and overlay.

Here is their answer:

Sadly, Rising Storm 2 isn’t one of our whitelisted games, so that’s probably why this overlay issue is popping up. We’re still working on getting more games compatible with our overlay, but it’s coming on a per game basis as each game is unique in how it interacts with the code.

further question:

Do you think there is ANY workaround?
I mean, there is anything we can do to bypass the problem? Running in windowed mode with a plugin that shows only who is talking?

I’m making guesses, but at the moment ANY solution would be better than the current situation.

Hi Luca,

Sadly, I don’t have any workaround for you, other than maybe using the mobile app on your phone while playing.

The way the overlay works is that it hooks into code on your game to display the overlay on-screen, and this is different for each game as they use different display methods, not to mention cheat protection and all that nasty stuff (at least for our overlay devs).
