Hey everyone so I thought I would ask for everyone’s advice and opinions on what they believe makes a good squad lead? So I’m level 40 now but only had the game a week so im still new to it and haven’t really played SL as didn’t want to make a mess of things. Obviously good coms is essential, but what do you guys and gals consider a absolute must?

      cheers

      • Keep comms clear and precise
      • Don’t micro manage
      • Mark calls from the squad, communicate to commander and other squads
      • Keep an eye on the map and call outs from other squads / commander
      • Build OP’s strategically, one should be up always
      • And last but not least…

Agreed, build garrisons, and make sure you have a support. engineer and AT guy in the squid. nobody wants to defend, but with out a defense squad games are lost. So keep your eye on the map and be that guy that fall back first or stay on defense.

Though building garrisons most of the time depends on how the squads are positioned on the map. The ones closest to the suggested garrison placement should go and place it. There are risks to ordering squads further away that have higher chances of getting to the position and setting it up. Offensive garrison that is. Ordering a wrong squad to set up a garrison could possibly disrupt offensive or defensive lines and could cost a strong point and/or entire match.

I played this one match on Hill 400 where I was the recon squad officer. I asked the commander to make a supply drop behind enemy lines. Luckily the enemy did not see it and I set up a garrison as soon as we took the middle point. That helped us push the next point a lot faster. And I did the same thing again after we took the next point. Commander did a supply drop and I set it up at a sneaky position. It worked. It was fast and efficient. We won.

Since recon squad is supposed to go behind enemy lines they are a good way of setting up garrisons. Though it is a whole different matter on maps like Kursk. It is basically a big open field and you can see everything. In a situation like that best thing would be to ask support to drop supplies and set up a garrison unnoticed. And again, this is for offensive garrisons.
