Battlefield 1’s Winter Update has finally arrived, and it brings a bevy of additions and changes, most of which are designed to add some more longevity to the game for dedicated players.
Among the major additions in the Winter Update are ribbons, elite codec entries, increased class ranks, and new server tools.
The Winter Update brought with it a number of gameplay changes – here are the most notable:
DICE decreased the duration of gas from 22 seconds to 15 seconds. However, they also educed the cooldown of gas abilities on vehicles from 30-32s to 25 seconds to compensate.
A number of weapon variants had their horizontal recoil increased. The Automatico Trench, Hellriegel Factory, M1909 Storm, Madsen Storm, MG15 Storm, and BAR Storm had their horizontal recoil increased by 14.3 percent. DICE also increased horizontal recoil of Lewis Optical and Benet Mercie Optical by 10 percent when aiming down the sight.
Medics will be happy to hear self loading rifles got some love in the latest update. The Auto Loading 8, Cei-Rigotti, and 1907 SL had their horizontal recoil reduced slightly. Low weight variants of SLRs had their recoil decreased as well. Meanwhile, the Selbstlader 1906 now has improved aimed accuracy, reduced recoil, and decreased spread.
The Martini Henry got a rebuff to its sweet spot between 30 and 80 meters, and damage from impact grenades has been reduced from 80 to 72.
DICE reworked the 12 gauge automatic shotgun to better compete with other weapons in the same category. The model 10-A slug variant had its muzzle velocity increased, but damage to gut, arms, and legs reduced.
Developers removed the visual recoil from the MLE 1903, Pieper Carbine, and the 1903 experimental.
For other notable changes and fixes, vehicle selection is now disabled while the preround countdown is running in order to provide a more fair selection process for vehicles. DICE also reports they fixed an issue where the Heavy Tank would not show on the minimap when firing.
The cavalry experience has been retuned – players should no longer be killed by a cavalry saber from multiple meters away.
