Today we’re kicking off the Battlefieldâ„¢ 1 Holiday Event. To make sure your holiday sessions with Battlefield 1 will be extra merry, we’ve prepared a bunch of events and giveaways for this period. BF1 History: Gas on the western front
After experiments on the Eastern Front, the German Army is using poison gas for the first time on the Western Front. At the beginning of the 2nd Battle of Ypres, the wind blows in a favourable direction; the wide spread use of chlorine gas has a devastating effect on the French troops. Even the Germans are surprised by it. The incredible sacrifice of the Canadian troops make it possible to defend Hill 60 in the end.

A new Battlefield 1 map called Giant's Shadow will be released to Premium Pass holders and players who preordered on December 13, and one week later for everyone else. BF1 History: The battle in Belgium
When World War I began, Germany invaded neutral Belgium and Luxembourg as part of the Schlieffen Plan, in an attempt to capture Paris quickly by catching the French off guard by invading through neutral countries. It was this action that technically caused the British to enter the war, as they were still bound by the 1839 agreement to protect Belgium in the event of war.
