‘the Qattara Depression .. was impassable’.

Tell that to the SAS! This was the time that the SAS had just been formed (Sept ’42). In conjunction with the Long Range Desert Force they operated behind enemy lines, using the impassable Qattara depression, to attack Axis airfields and ports. There’s an excellent TV series about their creation called SAS Rogue Heroes; if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. You could be forgiven for believing that it was a creation of an imaginative TV writer but 99% of it is factual.

The first game I played was the one in the manual that came with my Apple II Plus. I think it ended up being called ‘Pong’ or something equally banal. You played by bouncing a ball off the walls more and more quickly. How cool was that?!

It was even multiplayer (on the same computer)!

      Jeez I’m old.

Great summary, TmR! I’m not sure I could ever recall enough about a battle to write a report like that. You’re obviously officer material.

And great question, why the heck do people create locked squads?

      Perhaps another macro:

      Welcome macro

Welcome to the squad. Please communicate effectively. Make short reports if you see something, mentioning what and where. Do as instructed. If you do not, I will boot you!
