      Dear Comrad!

      It´s Roman,

      I turned 20 years a few days ago but I don´t expect this letter to reach you soon. On the Battlefields I´m known as Reuds, I don´t know how my mates came up with this name but somehow it sticked.

      I miss Germany, and i miss my old work as a Factorio builder. What would have been if not for theese godforsaken wars. Maybe i would have got the Job at the Kerbal Space Center? Maybe i would even be able to get rid of that burden of Dark Sign…. I still miss our joyfull games of Hearts of Iron or Total War…they were good times…Now I can only hear the billions of brave men crying…screaming in despair. Sometimes I can vividly see them charging and falling in front of me. I remember my first deployment. It was in Spartanovka…it was a bloody mess. We needed to recapture it from the Soviets, but after loosing half of our Army we only were able to move up the church.

      I would have written you sooner, but many unfortunate events prevented me from doing that. I´ll explain

      After this Battle I was lost to the Game of War forever. Not only Metaphorically. I was captured by the Soviets, Conscripted again and sent to the front. Always supervised by a Tovarich, always watching me from behind. We got transfered to Berlin. After a week of fighting my Squadron was  beeing encircled. Beeing Held at Gunpoint I explained the Soldiers my Story shortly. Luckily a friend during Training was there so I survied…unlike my Companions. After that we hid ourselves in a building. But the relief did not hold for too long as the war ended. Returning to Civil Life was hard, beeing captured by the Americans and moved to the States did not make it easier. I couldn´t get a new profession and nobody wanted me for work so I enlisted myself a second time, this time to the US Army, and it didn´t take long till I got my new assignments and was moved to Vietnam. As i was signing the Enlistment Papers I thought i already went through hell…but I really had no idea what level of futility was waiting for me in the jungles…

      So dear Brother, that´s why during all these years I was not able to write you, and this will probably be the only one for a long time. Thinking of home does not help you staying alive here, and it never has. I survived more than a man could possibly bear and I intend in keeping it that way. But if I die, don´t mourn, I am glad you are not able to see me like this, I am no Human anymore, just a man, fighting the wars of others. Remember me as i was before it all. I hope you are doing well.
