Yes, many people do not consider to play this game the way it is “meant” to be, you know not only a shooter lets say, but they rather see it as a shooter only. Many people do not care to speak, or be a lone wolf, and just want hunting kills. I really do not understand why to play this game without mic, but you know, “you do you”.
Sometimes it is a bit hard to get a full communicative squad, but when it does it is very rewarding. And very annoying the other way around.
One of the reasons I joined PBS, they always communicate and make the game “richer”. “Communication”

And is nothing wrong to take the squad lead, better be a squad lead and communicate, than be in a squad without comms.
I had the same issue as you when I started to play. You join a match, squads get full in few seconds or you come to a squad without comms, great.
So I created my own most of the time.
