So regarding the question what is the better weapon – Spear or Sword – here is a nice video from Lindybeige and ScholaGladiatoria.

Short answer is basically that it really depends on the scenario you are in, while in a battle you want to change weapon at some point, starting with a spear and then changing over to axe or sword.
Why arent there so many people using spears in movies then? Well, because they are movies and they are not historically accurate. Usually you would see EVERYBODY carry a spear since it is a crude and easy to get weapon that is really good at keeping the Enemy at distance.

This video puts the question to the test.

Afterwards you shall reconsider your army formation in Bannerlord. I like to think of “stages” in a battle. First you got the archers and cavalry, then the skirmishing and then you got the hand-to-hand combat. Depending on where your army is the best in, you should try to shorten the duration of several stages or extend the duration of another.

It doesn’t matter if they’ve already got an arrow through the eye!

… or to the knee, I guess.
