SQUAD MANAGEMENT & TRAINING TOOLKIT
Purpose:
To provide squad leaders and commanders with a practical system for training, managing, and retaining players in their squads using structure, identity, communication, and motivation.
Toolkit Content:
1. Squad Training Plan (Per Squad Type)
Module Focus Exercise Example Time
1. Movement & Position Stay together / cover sectors “Line Walk”, “Leapfrog Advance” 15m
2. Objective Execution Push / build / hold Cap zone, build gary, defend 2 waves 20m
3. Command Response React to SL/Commander calls “Commander Says” push/hold/fallback drill 10m
4. Internal Rotation Revives / kit switching “Medic Circle” + fallback positioning 10m
5. Calm Comms Efficient squad chatter Silent runs / SL-only comms / info bursts 10m
6. Debrief & Rotation Feedback + role switching Debrief + optional SL rotation 5m
Total Time: ~1 hour per squad (modular)
2. Retention Strategy: Keep Players in the Squad
Identity & Culture
- Give each squad a name, role, and character
- e.g. Squad 1 = “Shield Wall” (Frontline Defense)
- Squad 2 = “Breakers” (Push team)
- Recon = “Daggers”
- Use Discord roles, emojis, or custom squad icons
- Create traditions (e.g., “Breakers never retreat”) and memes
Micro-Wins & Growth
- Set mini-goals during matches (e.g., “Hold for 8 minutes”)
- Encourage skill development:
- SL training track
- Recon cert / arty cert
- Rotation trials (e.g., sniper -> support -> SL)
Consistent Teaming
- Keep 4–6 players in stable squads
- If someone takes a break: keep their spot open
- Use stand-ins without removing members
Recognition & Morale
- Celebrate things beyond K/D:
- Best revive round
- Most effective ping
- Smartest OP placement
- Use end-of-match shoutouts or Discord awards:
- “Player of the Push”
- “Recon Kill of the Week”
- Squad MVP
3. Squad Leader Guide (SL Essentials)
Pre-match:
- Give your squad a simple goal
- Remind them of their role (Hold, Push, Disrupt, etc.)
- Make them feel part of something bigger
In-match:
- Talk calm, not loud
- Give short, sharp commands: “Hold this trench.” “Push G6 now.”
- Praise good plays in the moment – it builds instant morale
Post-match:
- Win or lose, always debrief:
- “What worked?”
- “What should we try next time?”
- “Anything you want to try doing next round?”
Lead with structure. Train with purpose. Win with unity.
