Not entirely sure if this has been posted before, so if it has then I’ll apologise in advance.
Basing this off personal experience and seeing other users online posting similar questions, I thought I’d
add this simple solution. There are other, more complex solutions to fixing the issue, but I don’t want to make this
a drawn out post.
You’ve played on PBS’ servers, then for some reason, your connection drops. When you refresh the Server List,
none of the servers are to be found…and in some cases others too, no matter whether you reboot or use F3 to
“Dial in” to the IP.
In short, the server you’re playing on will ping your IP, looking for valid ports to use and certain routers will
treat this as an attack and block the incoming scans.
Whilst earlier iterations of BT Home Hubs, TalkTalk and other rebranded ISP routers had similar problems, later models
seem to have rectified the issue, but not so much certain AV suites.
For example, had issues with EasyAntiCheat, with Bullguard giving a false positive and after contacting the devs
and Bullguard also the issue was resolved. BattleEye was also problematic, same with DCS but all it takes is a
message to the dev team and these things can be sorted.
This should work with most AV suites plus Windows Firwall, but especially Bullguard, as it’s a PoS and I won’t be renewing
my subs, after all the nonsense it’s put me through.
Sooo, (Primarily Bullguard) head to Firewall–>Security (If Attack Detection is active) –>Configure.
In Trusted Host box, add the Server IP ONLY.
Back out, then try firing up the game client, if your list still isn’t there, head back to Bullguard and
DISABLE Attack Detection and possibly Respond to Ping also, most cases a reboot should clear the settings and
you’re good to go.
Earlier iterations of Bullguard also suggest disabling “Protect AV components against termination/alteration” as
this can be a problem with games altering files for their own use.
This quick fix should work with similar types of AV engine that give the user little control over their systems
and rely on their front end doing all the work.
A longer workaround can be found here on the official support site, hope you don’t need it!!
