Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is terrifying
Good commanders are hard to find when modern artillery and air support rips through the jungle Rising Storm 2: Vietnam unlocked on Steam yesterday afternoon, and since then I’ve been putting some quality time into the game. Like its predecessors, it is an absolutely brutal experience that demands teamwork. Without a decent commander leading your side, expect to be utterly destroyed. The game has a somewhat confusing history. The series began as Red Orchestra, a total conversion for Unreal Tournament 2003 set on World War II’s Eastern Front. The game eventually moved to Unreal Engine 3.0 and was released…
Real Fort de Vaux: Battlefield 1 vs. Real Life
Fort de Vaux history: https://youtu.be/k5YT-SkyQgQ?t=3m16s Recently, I was traveling in France, and was able to visit a few places featured in Battlefield 1. Fort de Vaux was one of them. So, I figured I'd put together a comparison between the fort in real life, vs. how it appears in Battlefield 1's They Shall Not Pass DLC. It turns out Fort de Vaux is actually represented pretty well in-game. Hopefully you'll enjoy what I was able to put together. I'll also look at the Verdun Heights map in a future video. source:flakfire
The Ally From The Far East – Japan in World War 1
Japan's participation in World War 1 is an often overlooked part of their history - even in Japan itself. Their service as one of the members of the Entente marked the climax of a development that started with the Meiji Restoration, a way out of isolation and into the global alliance system. This brought Japan more power and was also very lucrative. And after fighting in the Pacific Theatre of World War 1, the Siege of Tsingtao and contributing the Japanese Navy to the war effort, Japan had a seat at the table of the Versailles peace negotiations. Japan participated…
Battlefield 1 Cracks 19 Million Players As EA Sets Net Sales Record In Fiscal 2017
EA has announced preliminary FY17 reports from its fourth fiscal quarter and year ending March 31, 2017. While there's plenty to dig through (and you can do so on their official site), some of the highlights are interesting. The $3.034 billion in digital sales represented 61 percent of total net sales – up 20 percent year-over-year. Through the end of FY17, Battlefield 1 had more than 19 million players, a 50 percent increase over Battlefield 4 in the same time period. FIFA 17 also pushed past 21 million players, with more than 12 million having played "The Journey" story…
Prise de Tahure
Battlefield 1 developers have announced a new map, Prise de Tahure, set in France after the Nivelle Offensive. "Set in the autumn after the Nivelle Offensive, Prise de Tahure sees French troops desperately holding on to re-captured heights in the Butte-de-Tahure region. The frontline trench networks cut right through several villages facing obliteration from the constant skirmishing between German stormtroopers and French raiders. This is a war of attrition. Adaptability and tactics are the means to wear your adversary down." Prise de Tahure will be released shortly for testing on the Battlefield 1 Community Test Environment (CTE). DICE also announced…

Battlefield 1 History: Operation Albion , In the Name of the Tsar DLC Map
Battlefield 1’s in the Name of the Tsar DLC includes several new maps, including some set during the Brusilov Offensive, the battles for the Lupkow Pass, and the amphibious invasion “Operation Albion.†The latter battle may seem obscure, but Operation Albion actually played a significant role in the demise of the Russian Empire and the strengthening of German forces on the Western Front. For this video, I’ll examine some of the invasion’s historical details. Operation Albion was a German effort to seize the Estonian Islands of Oesel, Dagoe, and Mohn (German spellings) near the Gulf of Riga in October 1917.…
