Thanks for getting back to me and taking the time to review. Appreciate your concerns and I promise it’s all legit. To prove my point, you’re more than welcome to review my terrible scores over the past 12 months on the PBS servers which would be a testament to me being a shit shot.
Regarding the video, yeah it’s a bit blurry but you can see that it is absolutely possible to spot the enemy against the snow, even at night and at long range. Even though kar98k is great at range, you can see I took a literally loads of shots and missed basically all of them. I’m switching my aim because the sniper/spotter was behind a haybale and I didn’t know which side they would pop out on. Your sniper with the scoped weapon also couldn’t see me because a tree was in the way. If you’re thinking I was using an aimbot, then it’s clearly not the case. There was another situation similar to the one in the video where I was in the attic of a building in cobru approach and had to use like 4 or 5 mags of a gewehr to take out one guy in a similar position (D1KP6). I wasn’t even sure if I killed him and redeployed to left HQ to push from that side just to make sure he was dead.
So how’d I know where the enemy was? When you spend an hour defending artillery and denying recon the ability to push from one direction, they will just keep trying alternative approaches. This is really easy to counter by just re-deploying to a different HQ and observing; the recon team will push on the assumption that you are in your previous position and be less careful with cover that covers them from your new position. It’s also super easy to spot approaching German artillery on Foy, it’s flat open fields with little cover. As there is so little cover, it doesn’t take a genius to work out the most common approaches to arty and these are also the approaches that I use:
1. Push from forest in G1KP2 and have an OP in the forest near german right HQ.
2. Push from south of cobru approach and use buildings as a stopping place to check for enemies before finally pushing along the road.
3. Push from south and sneak across E2 using the hedges
In this game, German artillery was constantly firing, so it was obvious that recon would be sent to take them out and it was still early days so it can be assumed that recon hadn’t pushed all the way to the wood in G1KP2. The most likely scenario would therefore be that they would push from the northern most US garrison probably located south side of Foy. So the enemy recon had to be pushing straight from the south and their OP must therefore be somewhere in F3KP9 wood or trench (a common favourite location for recon who think it’s far enough away not to get taken down). Earlier in the game, I was prone in mid HQ observing directly south and saw movement in the houses. In addition to seeing friendly OPs light up in that area. So that confirmed my initial suspicions that recon had an OP in the F3kp9 wood or trench because the route through F2 has a lot of cover. (although looking your video I was clearly wrong about this).
I’m going to guess that after I fired the rocket I immediately redeployed? Discharge all my last rocket with the off-chance I get a kill? Yes please. Based on my assumptions above, it is likely that there would be enemy in cobru approach and given that I had already had 2 or 3 kills just south of the buildings over the course of 10-15 min it was easy to assume there could be more enemies who had pushed into the buildings. Based on my firing position, literally the only place that I could fire into where I suspected there could be someone was the attic. If I were north of cobru approach and had 10 different windows, then it would be a different story. Appreciate if you joined and saw me fire into the building it has no context whatsoever. Later in the game, I switched to SL and just sat around left, mid HQ and Cobru approach with my bino’s out. So if it’s already very easy to spot dark US uniforms against a white backdrop, it’s even easier with 8x magnification and when the enemy has to move towards you.
I hope this clears things up and thanks for taking a look into this. If you change your decision, cheers your a legend. If not, cheers for the games and laters.
