i know exactly what you mean there sam, ive had that happen to me when we have alot of players near my squad, you get to them even speak to them in local voice chat then they just give up or redeploy as soon as you get there, wish that didint happen as much as it does, and yes medic class is best used in an organized squad who communicates with not just its members but local chat and also with the commander.
