BF1 has been very hit & miss since a few updates ago or since a few updates to my gpu – not sure which. Tried using the perfoverlay.drawfps 1 thing the other day via the console & my fps was going crazy. I’m only running BF1 on custom medium to low settings with vsync forced, so should be getting a solid 60fps, but that thing was saying it was anywhere between 10 & 60. Since a few updates back – whether it was BF1 updates or again updates to my GPU, I’ve been getting random fps/lag issues every so often where the game will slow down for about 10-30 seconds & will then be ok for another 10 minutes or so. I’ve heard people that use i5 cpu are almost using 100% of their available processing power when running BF1, so I wonder if I’m getting cpu spikes or that bottle-necking thing (should really look that up some day to see exactly what that is).
PUBG runs fine. On a mix of high & medium settings. Around 70fps most of the time except during rain map (about 50fps) & when explosions or lots of people are nearby. Always above 30 & mostly somewhere around 50-70fps. I suppose I could lower the settings as the game isn’t really optimized enough yet to run half of the settings on high or ultra consistently, but I’ve not suffered any severe fps lag that’s put me at a disadvantage yet – the only thing doing that is my piss poor reaction time, when I get surprised by an enemy player or try to predict where they will be going (I somehow even missed an enemy point blank in front of me the other day with a pump action shotgun).
Anyway, most games run fine at 60fps or higher. I tend to force vsync most of the time as I only need 60fps (1080p 60hz monitor). Mad Max game was running at 100-200fps before I forced vsync on that – now that’s what you call a well optimized game; just a shame it got boring real fast. Game I had biggest issue with was Rise of the Tomb Raider. Ran fine until GeoThermal Valley section, then I ended up with fps drops all the time – badly optimized & very demanding game.
