Right this time, let’s talk about survival. Let’s say you have stupidly decide to engage with the enemy while you were out in the open & all you have for cover is trees, bushes & rocks. Now let’s say that your squad & their squad are now hiding behind things & are both taking random potshots at each other. What can you do in this situation? For some reason the mentality is stay & fight until one of you is wiped out, but I pretty much guarantee that not everyone will be firing suppressed weapons, which means it’s highly likely someone else now has a bead on where you are located, which in turn means that if you stay in the same place fighting for too long, that you are leaving yourself open to being flanked or attacked from behind.
Depending on what’s behind you, you may potentially have a couple of options available for retreating. If you are stuck about halfway up a hill & they are below, it means you can’t simply go prone or crouch run up the hill as they will likely be able to see you as soon as you leave your cover. If you have some smoke grenades, you could pop a couple of those off to make it hard for the enemies to spot you while AD spam up the hill. If you don’t, then you could provide suppression fire at the enemies cover while rest of your squad/partner runs up the hill & once they are in cover, they could do the same for you.
If you are out in the open behind a tree or better yet a large rock & there’s a cornfield, tall grass or the land dips behind you, then you could go prone & crawl backwards or forwards (your choice) while making sure you keep the thing that you were hiding behind in their line of sight, so that you can back up enough to get up & run away or reposition yourself so that you can ambush them for when they inevitably get bored & decide to come & check whether you are still there or have run away screaming like little girls – no offense Janet. 😈
Also here’s some quick tips on key bindings. If like me you didn’t bother checking out all the default key bindings or bother setting each one up to your liking, then you may not know that you can cycle through the in-game voice channels with ctrl+y (none, all, team only), ctrl+t will toggle mute in-game voice chat completely & ctrl+m will toggle mute the game sound.
As they say – or someone said – see you on the battlegrounds! 😉
