A soundcard with a good quality headset will make all of the difference – sounds become a lot more ‘real’ / lifelike. The clarity I could tell straight away. Also, if you like more ‘bass’ in your games, with the sound card you can edit various profiles to have it to your preference. Or alternatively if you want to hear people’s footsteps in game, you can turn on ‘scout mode’ which brings the treble up slightly (and all of the various other tweaks / mods it does).

They really are very good – definitely a thumbs up from me.
