Map-Training: Solo Playing a Map

This may sound stupid but sometimes you want to be the only one on the server to test something out.

• Try to land the Hue on the Beach of Resort without killing a whole squad by hitting the floor way too hard
• Take Commander role to look up the radio locations and timers for the support abilities to estimate on the opposing side where the commander could be and how long until this damn arty hits again
• Can i shoot through this wall or not? How long is the distance to hit a certain spot
• Where can i put tunnels and/or traps and where not
• …

This stuff mostly gets you killed or at least annoys the other 63 players.
Of course, you can stand up at 6.00 AM when the server is empty and vote for your map to train but this is perhaps not the effective way.

An easy way to start a ‘Trainingmap’ is the ‘switchlevel’ command.
Just start RS2 and hit the ‘F3’ Button to open the console on the bottom.
Start typing ‘switchlevel’ and the console shows you possible commands while typing.
After typing the command hit space and type the name of the map.
Here are some examples (Name : Commandname):

• AirAssault : VNTE-AirAssault1
• Charlie don’t surf : VNTE-CharlieDontSurf
• Lolo : VNSU-Lolo
• Mau : VNTE-Mau
• Resort : VNTE-Resort
• Ripcord : VNTE-Ripcord
• Wake Island : VNTE-WakeIsland

So to load the Map “Resort” you have to type ‘switchlevel VNTE-Resort’ and the game should load the map.
Notice that i use the map list from Kove to download all custom maps, so if you don’t have a map downloaded or misspelled the map name, the game loads Hill 937 by default.

Further, if you want to know a map name go to ‘C:\Users\#YOUR_USER_NAME#\Documents\my games\Rising Storm 2\ROGame\Config’ where you find many .ini files. Open the one with the file name similar to your desired map and it should state in the fist line what the map name for the command is.
