Elsenborn Ridge – An Honest Discussion

So, I am on the fence on this one. Do I like the map? Yes, and no. In a tank it’s mostly great – it has long site lines (when not snowing too hard) and kills are relatively easy to find. As infantry, I find myself on the other side, unable to find meaningful cover and end up getting pounded with arty and high explosive tank rounds. The hard caps are mostly exposed and aside from the off house, which inevitably becomes a satchel magnet, the exposure makes holding a point tricky – maybe that’s a good thing? The snow adds a different element, and I like how it changes.

Would welcome the views of others!

I really do like the atmosphere and it feels different from the other maps, which is all a big plus. However, there is something going on with that foiliage which makes bushcamping work too good. People just become invisible in some of those bushes. Guess they can change that though.

The big sightlines don’t bother me, that just dictates how you walk the map. At least its not El Alemein

I’m a fan of how hard it is for infantry on both sides to take points, I’ve seen jeeps get to the opposite end of the map without a problem, until the tanks roll in. Once the tanks have a good sight line on you crawling for safety won’t help you, it somewhat forces you to try a smarter play instead of the same thing your whole team is doing. Overall I love the atmosphere the map has, always on my toes atleast

Agreed, if there is one thing for certain, you have to play differently on this map!
